DIY Halloween Backdrops: Cute, Easy & Perfect for Lemon Drop Studios or Home!

Halloween is just around the corner, and whether you’re hosting a spooky little party, snapping pics of your kids in costume, or setting up a seasonal mini session at Lemon Drop Studios, the right backdrop makes all the difference! 👻

We’ve created two adorable, affordable, and super easy DIY Halloween backdrop ideas that you can pull together quickly—no professional decorating skills required. These setups are perfect for creating a festive vibe at your studio space or in your living room, and they’re guaranteed to make your Halloween photos pop.

From charmingly spooky to cutely creepy, these backdrops are a hit with kids, parents, and party guests alike. Let’s get into the tricks (and treats!) of making your own Halloween photo magic… 🧡🕷️

When it comes to Halloween, we love to keep things festive and fun—without the fright. That’s why we stick to kid-friendly décor that brings the charm without the chills. Think classic plastic ghost and pumpkin pails, cheerful Halloween balloons, and playful pops of orange, black, and white. These simple touches—like the plastic jack-o’-lanterns and themed accessories you see in the photo above—are not only adorable, but also super safe and easy to set up. Whether you’re staging a corner of Lemon Drop Studios or transforming your living room into a mini photo zone, these items instantly create a fun, approachable atmosphere that little ones love (and parents appreciate). Bonus: they’re reusable year after year! You can find all the items HERE

For this first set, the main feature is the “BOO” balloons. The set we have on amazon has glue dots you can add to the back of the blown up balloons and gently adhere the balloons to the wall. I would place the balloons just above the height of your tallest child so they can stand under it. Then its cute to place a cute stool or chair under the balloons for your wiggle kid to sit under as another option.

Adding the plastic trick or treat pails, plastic pumpkins makes for a fun and festive touch!

This next backdrop is super fun! We got a package of witches hats and tissue paper fans to create this scene you could even fit a group in front of. You can find the hats, and fans HERE

We first setup a backdrop stand in front of the wall. Super easy! You could also hang these items from a doorway, in your kitchen, or from a tree at home.

Next, we used fishing line to hang the hats and tissue paper fans. There really is no way to mess it up, its so easy! Just hang the hats and paper fans at various heights and you have the cutest backdrop!
